This is a traditional Tandoori Masala recipe. It is simple to make fresh as you need. Making a fresh hand ground spice blend is totally rewarding. The flavours are full and fresher than you will find from most commercial curry bleeds.

Recipes to Create with Your Hand Ground Tandoori Masala Curry Powder

There are loads of amazing meals you can make with this curry powder.

Tandoori Curry Powder

You can buy a Tandoori curry power or you can make your own from scratch. This is a very satisfying and delicious curry to make at home. Here is my favourite recipe.
This quantity is for one meal. Make a larger quantity if you like and store what you do not use right away in a spice jar in your cuboard. This will last a year at least.
You can use powders or whole spices. I prefer to use whole where I can and hand grind then as i need.

  • Mortar and Pestle


  • 1 1sp coriander seed or powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seed or powder
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seed or powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala or curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp chilli flakes or powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt


  • Add all the ingredints to a mortar and pestle and grind to a fine powder. You can use and electric spice or coffee grinder if you prefer.
  • Store in a well sealed jar in a dark cool palce until needed.
